Not a new release but worthy of mention and recommendation, Microscopy by Sven Laux is an exercise in micro-house that is simply a pleasure to drink-in. Only 5 tracks long, its a great little tease that leaves you wanting more. Highly recommended, grab the Digital Download via Bandcamp.
Whoever said “good things come in small packages” must have been talking about Sven Laux’s microcomposition. A leader in this new wave of music, Laux’s is a particular breed of minimal that you have to think about to truly understand. Listen at a distance, and it’s the kind of skittering beats that have earned Laux titles like “micro symphonist.” Listen closely, and you can hear every intricate cog turning. Ever a lover of the obscure and the weird, Laux swings from animated min tech to moments of languid ambience with ease, as evidenced in his latest effort, KSR034. The five-track release under Klangscheiben Records pairs peculiar samplings and interjections with those signature clicks, beeps, and small sounds. Micro symphony, indeed.released January 26, 2014
