Energostatic Records of Kiev brings us a phenomenal little project from Marc Atmost / Atmeo, The Tales of the Sagebrush Wind.

Only 3 tracks long, this little EP is simultaneously packed with pulsing energy and relaxing vibes. The long-form tracks fluctuate and evolve between textural ambience and hypnotic rhythms. Such as the first track, which takes a full 8-minutes to ramp-up to a serious groove, only to be whisked off into the aether. All in all it is quite satisfying, and I certainly wish it were a longer project! You can grab the digital download via Bandcamp.

the last months of 2016 for me were a period marked by the practice of surrendering with equal reverence to a complex flood of emotions, difficult endings, and budding beginnings… i’d like to think this batch of songs emerged from that same stream.

Depth of Sadness is a new EP by Downtempo-Techno artist Jeremy Davies, better known as SLOWNOISE. This 4 track project was just released by Cold Tear Records of Lithuania, whom always seem to release quality tunes. This brief yet brilliant project is equally satisfying as it is relaxing, like a nice meal and a good beer. Well rounded synths and electronics balance perfectly with relaxed and subdued rhythms, with each track holding an energy of its own. Currently the EP is only available for download via Cold Tear Records Bandcamp page.

Orange Milk Records recently dropped a new tape of glowing future-funk goodness, Waterbed,  from producer Tendencies. This is a 6 track project full of energy and awesome beats. Not shy on the use of vocal samples, it makes this a very poppy and listenable tape. Packed with wicked bass-lines and catchy melodies, this one is definitely worth a listen. And if you like it, you can grab a copy on Tape as well!

Favorite Track: 3. Waterbed

Brandon Smith’s Tendencies project shines through a lot of 2015’s Vaporwave overload with some of the heaviest and most heart-pounding grooves I’ve heard in the Future Funk sub-genre. The music is beautifully trapped between poles: hi-fidelity disco shimmer and YouTube digital grit, 70s and 80s material Product placement excess and early 21st century intangible commodity explosions, side chained sample madness against a clear and distinct producer and songwriter’s ear.

Our long time favorite artist, Sage Taylor, debuts on Archives with a full EP under his latest project ‘aspect.’. You should know him for being the man behind some of the greatest dub techno and ambient releases of the last years as Textural Being or Parallelism. ‘Sanguine’ expands his color palette with a joyful atmosphere filled with lush chord lines and includes also three different versions of the addictive Hk.

I have been a fan of the chilled out sounds of Dublicator and Federsen from the days of Thinner netlabel, so I was very excited to find this little release pop into my feed. This 6 track project consists of Dublicator reworkings by the likes of Brickman, Federsen and Textural Being. This is a great relaxed little album, so if you enjoy it be sure to check out Dublicators full-length to get some context on these great remixes.
