Fresh from rohs! Records out of Germany (though, not fresh to the universe), originally released in 2015, Periferica is an experimental techno album by Tears Of Change.

Periferica is a deep, churning project with a brutal yet mellow urgency. The sound is a unique juxtaposition of throbbing kicks and buzzing bass, combined with some haunting atmospheres. What results is a satisfying blend of energetic acid and high-quality textured ambience. Some of my favorite parts of this project were the most dissonant, where the sounds seemed to be combating each-other within the track!

DEEPCHORD presents us with a collection of tunes from days of old. Anyone who has read this blog for long knows I am a huge fan of deepchord and the days of Thinner Netlabel and the neverending plethora of Dub Techno that was being created at the time.

This wonderful little release gathers tracks produced by Mike Schommer & Rod Modell (collectively DEEPCHORD) between the years of 1997-1999. Striped-down and raw, each of the tracks is an impressive look into the duos early works. Ever present are the staples of their sound, muddled percussion and gorgeous melodic chordal progressions. The album is for sale via Bandcamp.

Melodyheart, by Xspance

Melodyheart by Xspance is a collection of soaring and majestic beats, brought to us by Section Records. The 12 tracks meander through chillout vibes and downtempo rhythms at a relaxing pace, utilizing galactic soundscapes as a backdrop to the whole show. As the title suggests, there is a good deal of emotion in each of the tracks, with beautiful synths hinting towards hope and melancholy. The album is available to download digitally via the labels Bandcamp page.

‘Melodyheart’ is the latest engaging sensory experience from the musical mind of Xspance, whose journey-esque structures and evolving arrangements lend a very visual, filmic element to his music, as each track becomes a scene in a play, slowly revealing a bigger picture. ‘Melodyheart’ is a perfect collection of chilled ambient tracks, each designed to melt into each other. It’s uplifting melody driven music that will warm your heart and touch your soul, hence the title of the album. Just close your eyes and dream…

I am a long-time fan of UK Ambient Producer 36, I am also a huge fan of melodic ambient, soft techno and anything in between. Therefore, 36’s latest release INDIGO/EXPANSE is absolutely perfect for me. As the artist mentions below in his blurb, the two tracks contained are a bit more uptempo than the rest of his discography, however I feel like it fits perfectly with the blissful melodic ambience of this particular release. Both tracks tackle dub-techno with finesse and character, evoking galactic visions of vast glowing space. And to top it all of, it’s a gift from the artist, you can pick up this project at your chosen price via Bandcamp!

“These tracks were recorded early 2016, immediately after I finished The Infinity Room. They were originally going to be pressed on a limited 12″ white label, but due to various reasons, I never got around to releasing it. Some of you may have heard them in my recent mixlr broadcasts. They’re a lot more uptempo than my usual tracks and because they’re stylistically quite different to what I usually go for, they never quite found a place elsewhere. I like them a lot though and rather than see them go to waste, I’ve decided to upload them here as a digital download, exclusive to my Bandcamp page. It’s a small thank-you to fans old and new, who have supported my music over the years. I’ve set it as pay what you want, but feel free to enter zero if you want to download it for free. Tehnofonika Records Brings us a marvelous summer sampler of Dub-Techno tunes, perfect for relaxing while the sun sets on a hot day. Featuring tracks from some of my favorite producers (Martin Frost, Dublicator) as well as a few fresh finds, this sampler is 10 tracks of high-quality techno tunes. For fans of the deeper dub-techno out there, this release is the perfect balance of techno you can dance to as well as meditate to. Between the 4 versions of the titled track, there is an impressive variety and depth in the material presented. Currently you can only download the project digitally as the Limited Edition Red Vinyl has already sold out, so all we can hope for is a re-pressing of this beauty!

ARCHIVES has another pleasant release for us in the forms of Sanguine by aspect. This small release packs a great feeling into its 4 tracks (3 versions of the track Hk, as well as the title track, Sanguine). This is one solid EP, currently available via Bandcamp.

Our long time favorite artist, Sage Taylor, debuts on Archives with a full EP under his latest project ‘aspect.’. You should know him for being the man behind some of the greatest dub techno and ambient releases of the last years as Textural Being or Parallelism. ‘Sanguine’ expands his color palette with a joyful atmosphere filled with lush chord lines and includes also three different versions of the addictive Hk.

Dewtone have some more goodies for us this month, this time from producer Yone B (Guillaume Couttenier) with his Optical Path EP. 4 tracks of soothing dub-techno that anyone familiar with Dewtone’s particular flavor will be able to appreciate. Both melodic and melancholy, filled with deep bass and shimmering percussion, Optical Path is a well rounded project with an attention to detail.
