Dewtone have some more goodies for us this month, this time from producer Yone B (Guillaume Couttenier) with his Optical Path EP. 4 tracks of soothing dub-techno that anyone familiar with Dewtone’s particular flavor will be able to appreciate. Both melodic and melancholy, filled with deep bass and shimmering percussion, Optical Path is a well rounded project with an attention to detail.

Enchant EP, by Vesa-Matti

a0767075856_10

Heres something upcoming from Ukrainian label Subself, the Enchant EP by Vesa-Matti. Dropping in a few days, this 5 track project (2 originals with 3 remixes) is an assault of deep techno vibes. Strong and minimal, great tracks for bumping in the car on a dark night with moody vibes and huge bass.

ROBOEMPIRE, by RØBØTAISEN

a4123467203_10

RØBØTAISEN has dropped the followup to one of my favorite albums of last year ROBOSAVIOR with ROBOEMPIRE! Building on the conceptual foundation laid in the previous ROBO-series entries, EMPIRE is an enlightening culmination of past efforts and future dreams. Full of awesome future-funk grooves, the project is full of interesting twists and turns laid on top of solid beats. I love this series and this entry is no exception, I will definitely be listening to this one countless times…

Dialog Tapes, by eilean rec.

a3193028402_10

Dialog Tapes is a project from Frances eilean rec. and Belgian Label dauw. The album contains 14 tracks (7 tracks released per label) by artists from both families. Unique in both concept and sound, the sheer number of artists involved guarantees exploration of all ambient styles. Both lush electronics and graceful acoustics flourish from one track to the next, creating a nice atmosphere that has a constant of relaxation. I have long been a fan of the eilean rec series, and this hybrid-project certainly does not disappoint!

You can download the album now via either labels Bandcamp pages, both have sold-out of the CD/Tape versions though, so we must keep our fingers crossed for a re-press!!

“Dialog Tapes is a blend between Eilean Rec. & Dauw in which we linked artists of both labels. It’s the result of true love for each other works. We hope you enjoy this little treasure.”

One year ago, eilean rec. came to Dauw to propose to them if they would be interested in a collaboration between our two labels. after some exchanges of ideas and talkings, we found the guidelines of the project : propose between a selection of the Dauw & Eilean Rec. music artists to choose 2 music artists from the other label and works with them on a piece of sounds.
here is the result of this project :
14 tracks, 15 music artists, 85 minutes of sounds spread on the two labels.

Rising Dark EP, by TwichGarden

a1191816640_10

Rising Dark is the latest release from TwichGarden and Kopoc Label of Spain. Both deep and energetic, Rising Dark EP is a great dub project that experiments with all sorts of rhythms and tempos. Each track carries a unique sense of urgency, whether its the off-kilter percussion or the constant sub-bass, making the whole EP shrouded in a mysterious energy. I pretty much enjoyed each track as much as the next, though I feel like the latter half is the strongest in terms of ideas and execution. The final track, which is also the title track of the EP, is a wonderfully deep dub-techno cut which is equally unique and traditional. This one is highly recommended, and as always is available to download via Bandcamp!

ONNIE, by SEOUL

a0389873075_10

Here is a quick weird one from THE LAST FUNFAIR records, a vaporwave label from So-Cal. ONNIE is a project by producer SEOUL which is a heavy combination of mallsoft and vaporwave. Though quite melodic and at some times quite catchy, SEOUL does a great job washing the sounds into a sonic blur. It’s dense, at times abrasively so, but it definitely works towards its advantage. At a cool 4-tracks it is not overwhelming either, encouraging me to enjoy multiple play-throughs actually! You can stream/download the project now via bandcamp.

Lumine, by bansheebeat

a1800798338_10

Had this one recently recommended, Lumine by bansheebeat. Released by Galaxy Swim Team, Lumine is an ambitious melting pot, packed full of inspirations from all corners of the globe. It’s an impressive listen from start to finish, 9 tracks altogether, ranging from relaxed melodies to pulsing dance arrangements. There is a little something for everyone in here, as bansheebeat fuses future funk styles with j-pop emotions he creates something quite unique and satisfying!

I personally loved this album from start to finish. Maybe it is my own love of things like Japanese culture, vaporwave and good electronics, but for other fans of the same they will find this project to be a well-crafted and enlightened listen.

Favorite Track: 3. Rainy Love

 released 07 July 2015

All tracks composed, arranged, produced, and mixed by bansheebeat
All tracks mastered by Noah Hafford, with consultation from bansheebeat, Mike Vallejo, and Calvin Hansen

Everything recorded and sequenced in my bedroom while watching endless episodes of The Eric Andre Show and Parks and Recreation, in and around Mike and Joy’s apartment, and from other various places around Tucson, AZ where working on an album is probably inappropriate.

All songs written by bansheebeat, except track 2, composed by bansheebeat and Ivy Hollivana, and track 5, composed by bansheebeat and Patrick Sovereign

Geographics 2, by Cousin Silas

a0933932236_10

The Small Scottish Netlabel of weareallghosts brings us this truly beautiful work of relaxing ambience from Cousin Silas. Geographics 2 is a long-playing 9 track album focusing on soundscapes constructed from guitars and lush atmospheres. The overall tone of the album is both majestic and melancholy. Much like the album artwork suggests, it evokes feelings of misty mornings alone in the wilderness. The tasteful compositions don’t stray too far from traditional ambient styles, which is almost a breath of fresh air with so much weird genre-bending nowadays! For the most part this is an incredibly relaxing work of new age ambience, a highly recommended listen! You can grab the album from Bandcamp or Archive.

Favorite Track. 3 Through Lincolnshire (Spring 1969)

I have a considerable amount of love for Cousin Silas and his music. He is consistently wonderful, as an inspiration and as a friend, and I am proud to present his latest work: “Geographics 2 (waag_rel075)” … the long overdue follow up to “Geographics” on the brilliant Shaun Blezard’s now sadly dormant Earth Monkey Productions.

It was Geographics that got me into Cousin Silas’ music. That and his Ballard Landscapes, which were all on EMP. And it was EMP that got me into Silas by promoting his work. Blezard’s netlabel introduced me to the concept of netlabel and was a key inspiration for me to start weareallghosts.

It seems like we’ve come full circle with waag releasing Cousin Silas’ follow up all these years later.

And what a release it is: mellow, ambient guitar soundscapes. Nothing rushed or overwrought, just simple ambience … the kind that settles the mind.

Here’s to you, Cousin Silas … and to you, Shaun Blezard! Cheers to you both.

A 320kbps version of this release is available over on Archive (archive.org/details/we-are-all-ghosts) for free with a lossless version available on Bandcamp for ‘pay what you want’ which does include ‘free’. If you decide to download this album here for free, and you can with our best wishes, then all we ask is that you please tell people about it.

Ever Evolving, by DAILON

a2423302862_10

Ever Evolving is the latest project from producer DAILON. Released by San Franciscan label DIRTY//CLEAN and consisting of 4 tracks plus a remix courtesy of Groundislava. The EP is a great combination of interesting sounds and rhythms that make you want to nod your head. Each beat (aside from the remix) sits at a very relaxed tempo making it an easy record to play over and over again. Very easy to listen to, but the more you listen the more you can appreciate DAILON’s unique use of instrumentation and structure. You can download the album now via Bandcamp.

D//C016 – DAILON – Ever-Evolving

Originally hailing from Nashville, TN, Dailon aka Dylan Flach is an inspiring young producer who has been relentlessly productive throughout his budding career. Since relocating to San Francisco 5 years ago, the talented young artist has made a name for himself in the Bay Area by pushing his take on colourful, jet-lagged beat music, finding a crucial balancing point between fluid, emotive bass vibes and jagged, synth-washed club workouts. Ever-Evolving is a tale of drastic change, as captured in his trip to the ocean cliffs of Big Sur, where it all began.

Dailon started his journey from San Francisco down the pacific coast, eventually finding his way to a remote beach 18 miles south of Big Sur. Beneath the hazy glow of the ocean sun, he studied the waves crashing, the peace and serenity of the tides, along with the turmoil of the violent cliff-side surf. Eventually, the beaming sunlight gave way to a heavy metallic downpour, a fleeting ocean rainstorm. ‘Ever-Evolving’ is Dailon’s hi-def, carbon-fiber soundtrack to this continually changing atmosphere. The emotive swings of the EP reflect the shifts and rhythms of city life while offering moments of clarity and calm reflection that come from an escape into the misty pacific. This is “Ever-Evolving”, the slowed tranquility and angular chaos of life.

Colors is the latest project from ambient producer Patkus of Philadelphia. The 8-track project is a finely tuned exercise in melody and atmosphere. In each track, Patkus manages to craft a surprisingly comfortable ambiance, both familiar and mystical. The title track Colors is quite the inspired piece, weighing in at just over 10 minutes in length! Each track in itself is a unique microcosm that you can sink in and explore. It’s currently available on bandcamp so throw some support down and grab a high quality version to enjoy!
