New Life, by ASVMR

𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 ® is a new full-length and collaborative project by ₳§ᗐMR and friends, currently released via Vivarium Recordings with a physical version on the horizon. Featuring some top-notch collaborators like maggie.wav, V//Tomo, Soul▲Craft and many more – somehow this manages to be one of ₳§ᗐMR’s most focused and comprehensive projects to date. Never shying away from a unique concept to package sounds within – ₳§ᗐMR’s 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 ® is a full blown course in sonic self-actualization. Drawing a lot of influence from Dystopian Cyberpunk style while utilizing very abstract and creative interpretations of Vapor Trap and Alternative Ambient – at times pushing towards surreal Dreampunk and lush Synthwave. It’s a diverse and rich listening experience from top to bottom, and definitely one of my favorite releases by ₳§ᗐMR to date….

Download and Stream the album now – and keep an eye out for a physical release on September 18th via Pacific Plaza Records.

Off the Goop! by Sloe

Off the Goop! is a full length album by producer Sloe – conceptual, experimental, and quite satisfying. Rooted in a fictional universe with strange creatures and mysterious purple goo, the project has quite the unique flavor beyond the artwork and concept. The sounds themselves are a splendid hybrid of wonky future beats, vaportrap and experimental electronics. Massively satisfying in so many ways from the slapping beats to the hazy melodies. Be sure to pick this one up on Bandcamp and support the artist – with the BC version featuring 3 bonus tracks, you’d be crazy NOT to!

Good Morning Miss Fox, by All Things Flow

Beautifully mellow Chill-hop and Ambient from Saigon Trio All Things Flow – Good Morning Miss Fox is a compact 5-track project with big moods and emotion. Displaying quite a nice variety of style and approach, the songs float in-between relaxed beats and delicate, thoughtful guitar/synth noodlings. All of it is painted with a soft yet vibrant palette, bringing about those feelings of warm nostalgia. This is some highly recommended morning music, perfect with a cup of tea and a hazy sky…

Wave Variations, by 36

The ever-intoxicating sounds of 36 are coming back to us on fresh waves – this time in the form of a so-called “mini-album” Wave Variations.

A collection of short flowing compositions – Wave Variations features 12 tracks (2 of which are exclusive to the vinyl release) presented as Sequences One to Twelve. Now that would typically seem like a full-length album, but I understand what the producer is going for when they dub it a mini-album. Each track floats around 3 minutes in length, which is a definite oddity in the world of ambient music. 36 explains…

‘I feel like a lot of ambient music (including my own) is often unnecessarily long and these small vignettes work as a nice counter to that. Don’t expect long build-ups or over-extended crescendos”

It may seem like a negative and/or blanketed statement, but it’s quite spot on. And in the case of this album, the brevity definitely plays to its advantage. I actually think this is a fantastic introduction of sorts to 36 in general, with each track highlighting different aspects of their signature sound – melodic and melancholy, expressive yet relaxing.

Wave Variations takes cues from it’s own name, with each track having pulsing hypnotic qualities. Tracks like “Eighth Sequence” masterfully coaxing the listener into a pensive state, floating in time for a brief reflective moment. The tempo and pacing of the noodling synthesizers and humming pads translate across the project, whether taking a more playful approach or sinking back into a numbing melancholy.

The album was originally released back in July by Past Inside The Present – and although the physical editions are currently sold out, we are lucky to have access to this digital edition. Support the artist directly via Bandcamp.

Merak Holograms, by bliss3three

Truly blissful new sounds from the gang at Vivarium Recordings – Merak holograms is a 2-track project by bliss3three of quite pleasing ambient-vaporwave experiments. Starting melodic and meditative with ‘eremocene music’, an 11 minute mellow epic that deserves to be on repeat – leading into ‘hygge’ – a much shorter creation focusing on a few very peculiar yet satisfying riffs. Taking less than 15 minutes to experience, I encourage you to explore this microcosm!

Construct, by Bios Contract

Unique Avant-Garde electronics from Indian artist Bio Contrast. Construct is a thoughtful exploratory EP consisting of 3 tracks, gliding from static deconstructions into blissful atmospherics and back again. Though altogether less than 10 minutes long – the sonic expanse is astounding – with the concept truly fleshing out by reaching the 3rd track. It’s textural, emotional, and interesting – one of the more rewarding shortform experimental listens I have had the pleasure to enjoy recently. The project is streaming on all platforms as well as for sale over at bandcamp, so show some support! I am looking forward to digging into this artists back catalog, as this was my first exposure to their creations…..

Hypnosis EP, by Deep Shoq

Texan Label Sunset Waves presents us with a beautiful and dynamic EP from Deep Shoq – Hypnosis. A lovely 6-track of diverse yet danceable tracks – pulling inspiration from unique corners of electronic music and swirling them together satisfyingly. Dipping its toes into psychedelic bass, future garage and fuzzy corners of retro club. Surface, the last track on the record, is one of my favorites – if only for the unique juxtaposition of nu-garage ambient atmosphere and fierce dancefloor kickdrum. You can stream it on the usual platforms or throw some support direct on Bandcamp. Nice summertime jams – give ’em a taste….

สวัสดี 𝐇𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬, by 𝑳𝒖𝒂 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑷𝒉𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒎

Hello Music Lovers! I know it’s been a few weeks since sharing anything to this website – the world has weighed me down in all directions – but thing like this only slow us down….. A small thank you to everyone who has stuck with us, this website has been around a long time and we have no intention of going away!

Without further jibber jabber – I am enjoying some really mellow Monday tunes over here, a fresh release from Seouls CHO OYU label – a wonderful little hub for experimental ambient music. สวัสดี 𝐇𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬 features 6 collaborative tracks created by Lua with assistance from Thai multi-instrumentalist Phayam. The project on a whole is very cozy and warm – touching flavors of hope and melancholy, giving the tracks some proper depth.

There is almost 2 sides to each track – a background is painted with lush textures and pleasing progressions – only to act as a stage for plinking and plucking piano riffs that are ultimately satisfying. Tracks like 𝙉𝙤𝙬 𝙄 𝙐𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 opt for a more stripped-down approach that I can really appreciate – the meditative nature of 2 hands wandering on a piano combined with the overall vibe of the album leads to quite a blissful mindstate…

The album is available now via CHO OYU’s bandcamp page – do yourself a favor and pick up their discography while you’re there – for about 8 dollars you can get all 10 of their releases including this one – so if you find yourself agreeing with this vibe, go and show some support!

THIS IS A BAND, by Gould ’72

Fresh from Gould ’72 (a.k.a. All These Fingers) is this quaint 3-track project THIS IS A BAND. And oh yes, a band it is. True band jams. These tunes remind me of playing tunes in the garage with friends – flavors of pavement-esqe noodlings melded together with steady grooves. It’s an ultimately satisfying take on ATF’s typical sound which tends to be sample based with a healthy dose of synths and boom baps. The style translates surprisingly well to a “Band” format, with fuzzy guitars and chugging bass occupying the real estate that used to be owned by synths and pads. Even with ROCKMAN I LOVE YOU, being perhaps the most alt-rock sounding of the 3 tracks, with an infectious melody in the hook performed by 2 drunk Brian May clones – it’s pretty damn terrific and highly recommended!

Cloud Diameter 2, by Cloud Diameter

Wonderful sounds brought to us by Submarine Broadcasting Company from Cloud Diameter. A lovely 8-track project that’s thoughtful and experimental – balancing flavors of modern classical and progressive ambient with a lot of electroacoustic vibes. This style falls in a happy place for me – often times I find myself oversaturated by dark-ambient, yet even at its brooding depths Cloud Diameter 2 manages to portray more of a *creepy* atmosphere than pure darkness. And though the overall atmosphere of the release is one of melodic relaxation, the amount of unique ideas packed into these 8 tracks makes it quite the interesting listen if you dig deeper….
