Modern Prophecy, by Conducive

Originally released back in January via Veinte 33 RecordsModern Prophecy is a 3-track ambient sound-art project from producer and sound-designer Conducive.

Balancing lush field recordings with dense dark synths, the ~18 minutes of sound develop into quite the journey.

Beginning with ‘Lineal‘, one can easily imagine the churning energy of massive engines potentially carrying the listener from one location to another. Rusty, metallic industrialization becomes a rigid yet somehow blanket.

Leading into ‘Vendedor Ambulante‘ – a slightly softer soundscape, perhaps placing the listener inside a monorail hauling it’s way through the city, as the soft chatter of other riders prattles on amidst muffled tones of technological travel.

It all culminates in the third and final track, “Profecía Moderna” – a formidable, nearly 10 minute track that begins where the previous left off while slowly ramping up the urgency to a ultimate crescendo of noise.

The world rushes by as you cling to the exterior of the monorail, wind thick with smog and trash shredding across your face – as a bridge carries you over an impossibly deep chasm with a glittering stream, you release your grip, plummeting downwards into the mist…

The project is quite the trip – highly recommended listening for fans of noise and the more harsh/industrial side of ambient. Casual listeners may be turned off by the aggressive wall-of-sound style towards the end of the album, but if you’re willing to go along for the ride, it’s quite a rewarding experience.
